NLRC Top Official Set to Retire Effective April 28, 2023
Chairman Gerardo C. Nograles bids farewell to public service as he reaches the mandatory retirement age of 65.
Chairman Nograles' stint at the NLRC started when he was appointed Presiding Commissioner of the then 4th Division (7th Division) in Cebu City. He soon introduced notable reforms in labor adjudication as he, together with his team, endeavored to resolve all labor cases within the process cycle time. In 2006, fate presented a challenging opportunity to former Presiding Commissioner Nograles to steer the boat that is NLRC into, as they say, the calmer side of the vast ocean.
As Chairman of the Commission, he institutionalized significant policy reforms affecting adjudication and labor dispute resolution. Remarkable impact of these policies would be felt sooner as the NLRC gained prominence in delivering and administering social justice as it promotes industrial peace. In order to sustain these gains, Chairman Nograles continuosly built his would-be legacy as he conscientiously implemented the Labor and Employment Agenda.
Chairman Nograles stremlined processes relating to arbitration and adjudication, strengthened conciliation and mediation, improved the quality of decisions both at the compulsory arbitration and appeals levels, reinforced the rules on the implementation of judgment award, established standards of integrity among the employees and officials, adopted digitalization initiatives, reinforced social dialogue, and introduced resiliency measures.
Over the years, his dedicated and decisive kind of leadership inspired the NLRC officials and employees to perform well and achieve its targets. To express their gratitude and salutations to Chairman Nograles, officials and employees across regions gathered in various occasions with one meaningful wish in mind - that their esteemd Head of Agency gets the best out of his retirement years and spend most of them with loved ones and friends.
