Bacolod Coca-Cola Supervisors' Union and Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines Resolve Labor Dispute, Signaling Potential Amicable Resolution
BACOLOD CITY – Bacolod Coca-Cola Supervisors’ Union-PACIWU-TUCP and Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. have successfully reached a resolution in the labor dispute, amounting to a substantial Nine Million Pesos (P9,000,000.00). The parties entered into a Compromise Agreement on July 15, 2023, putting an end to a prolonged deadlock in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations for the Supervisory Union.
The labor dispute initially arose from disagreements during the grievance machinery process, which escalated to the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) and was subsequently endorse to the Regional Arbitration Branch VI of the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) in Bacolod City. While there are pending cases in higher courts related to the dispute, the parties sought the intervention of Executive Labor Arbiter Jessie G. Sullano to mediate and resolve these cases.
Following joint requests from both the complainant Union, represented by PACIWU-TUCP, and the respondent, Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc., a conference was held before the NLRC-RAB VI in Bacolod City. With the assistance of their respective counsels, the parties finally settled their labor disputes, reaching a significant amount of P9,000,000.00.
This landmark settlement paves the way for a potential amicable resolution of long-standing legal controversies involving approximately One Hundred Million Pesos in economic benefits for the Bacolod Coca-Cola Supervisors’ Union-PACIWU-TUCP Officers and Members. Both parties have expressed their intent to inform the higher court of this new development.
The successful resolution of this labor dispute marks another milestone for the NLRC, demonstrating its commitment to effectively and efficiently dispose of cases while striking a balance between the interests of employers and employees.
