NLRC Hosts Consultation Meeting with Labor Leaders

The National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) conducted a significant consultation meeting with prominent labor leaders at the NLRC Conference Room, Ben-Lor Building, Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.

Held on May 16, 2024, the event was honored by the esteemed presence of Hon. Raymond Democrito C. Mendoza, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and President of the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines, as the guest of honor.

The dialogue aimed to strengthen collaboration between the NLRC and various labor organizations, ensuring that the concerns and perspectives of workers are adequately addressed. Attendees included representatives from several labor groups, such as the Federation of Free Workers (FFW), Philippine Trade & General Workers Organization (PTGWO), Pambansang Kilusan ng Manggagawa (KILUSAN), Associated Professional, Supervisory, Office & Technical Employees Union (APSOTEU), All Workers Alliance Trade Unions (AWATU), and National Congress of Unions in the Sugar Industry in the Philippines (NACUSIP).

Hon. Raymond Democrito C. Mendoza highlighted Congress's commitment to legislative reforms aimed at addressing the pressing concerns of the labor sector and the NLRC. He recognized the invaluable insights and contributions of labor leaders and emphasized the need for laws that reflect the realities faced by workers.

Chairperson Grace E. Maniquiz-Tan stressed the importance of such dialogues in fostering mutual understanding and cooperation between labor unions and the NLRC. She highlighted the critical role of labor organizations in advocating for workers' rights and the necessity of their active involvement in discussions affecting labor policies and practices.

The consultation underscored the NLRC's ongoing efforts to engage with all stakeholders in the labor sector, aiming to build a more inclusive and responsive labor relations system.
