NLRC NCR SENA Desk Facilitates P103K Settlement Taxi Driver

Quezon City. – The National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) National Capital Region (NCR) Single Entry Approach (SENA) Desk has successfully facilitated a settlement amounting to P103,000.00 for a taxi driver. Assisted by SENA Conciliator-Mediator Josephine A. Gallenero, the settlement addressed an employment dispute and demonstrated the effectiveness of the SENA program in resolving labor issues.

The taxi driver, who sought resolution for unpaid wages and other employment-related concerns, reached an amicable agreement with his employer-taxi company following a series of mediation sessions.

It is settled rule that the relationship between jeepney/taxi owners/operators and jeepney/taxi drivers under the boundary system is that of employer-employee. The fact that the drivers do not receive fixed wages but only keep what they earn beyond the "boundary" they pay to the owner/operator does not alter this relationship.

Serving as a valuable tool for both workers and employers seeking fair outcomes, the SENA program aims to provide a speedy and amicable resolution of labor conflicts

The NLRC remains steadfast in its mission to uphold the rights and welfare of workers, ensuring that justice is served in a timely and equitable manner.
