NLRC Holds Basic Orientation on Labor Laws, SEnA Program, and GAD Orientation

The National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) successfully conducted a Basic Orientation on Labor Laws and the Single Entry Approach (SENA) Program, along with a Gender and Development (GAD) orientation, on October 10-11, 2024. Held via the Zoom platform, the orientation brought together newly designated SENA conciliator-mediators and other employees from both the Commission Proper and the Regional Arbitration Branches.

The two-day program aimed to equip participants with foundational knowledge of labor laws and policies, ensuring they are well-prepared to handle cases within the SENA framework—a mechanism that facilitates swift and amicable settlement of labor disputes. In addition to these primary topics, the orientation integrated a focus on Gender and Development, underscoring the importance of gender sensitivity and inclusivity in both the workplace and case handling.

Chairperson Grace E. Maniquiz-Tan highlighted the significance of continuous learning and the vital role that conciliator-mediators play in promoting fair and peaceful labor relations. She emphasized that a thorough understanding of labor laws is essential for SENA conciliator-mediators as they navigate the complexities of dispute resolution. She also reiterated the Commission’s commitment to gender equality and inclusivity, underscoring the importance of GAD in fostering a balanced approach to labor relations.

Participants engaged in discussions led by experienced NLRC officials and guest speakers from the National Conciliation & Mediation Board (NCMB), covering core labor policies, the procedural intricacies of SENA, and the importance of a gender-sensitive approach to conflict resolution.
