NLRC Conducts Fire Safety Awareness and Emergency Preparedness Seminar with BFP

Quezon City – The National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC), in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), conducted the “Fire Safety Awareness and Emergency Preparedness Seminar” on March 19, 2025, to equip employees with essential knowledge on fire prevention and emergency response.

Commissioner Donna C. Ramos of the NLRC Sixth Division and Co-Chairperson of the NLRC Security and Safety Committee welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of knowledge, preparedness, and awareness in responding to emergencies and calamities.

“Let us utilize this seminar as a truly valuable source of awareness and preparedness, and commit ourselves to applying what we have learned when the need arises,” she stated.

The seminar featured an information session led by Fire Officer Rey John S. Surtido of the BFP Pinagkaisahan Station. He provided an in-depth discussion on fire chemistry and behavior, fire prevention strategies, and effective fire suppression techniques.

Participants also received hands-on training on fire extinguishment methods, including the proper operation of a fire extinguisher. Additionally, essential fire safety tips and emergency procedures were shared to enhance awareness and responsiveness during fire incidents.

This initiative reflects NLRC's ongoing commitment to workplace safety and emergency preparedness, ensuring that employees are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to respond effectively in case of fire-related emergencies.
