NLRC RAB XII Releases P1M Judgment Award for OWF Seafarer in Disability Claim
Koronadal City – Affirming its dedication to upholding the rights and welfare of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), the National Labor Relations Commission – Regional Arbitration Branch XII (NLRC RAB XII) has successfully enforced a ?1,000,000.00 judgment award in favor of an OFW seafarer from General Santos City.
The amount represents permanent total disability benefits awarded to the seafarer following a favorable ruling against a shipping company. Executed through garnishment, the enforcement ensured compliance with the labor arbiter’s decision and the release of the awarded benefits to the claimant.
Judgment execution was facilitated by Executive Labor Arbiter Jocelyn A. Vasallo, with vital support from Administrative Assistant Julie G. Taborete and Sheriff Brandon B. Balayo of NLRC RAB XII. Their coordinated efforts ensured the efficient implementation of the order, reflecting the Commission’s unwavering commitment to timely and enforceable labor justice.
This case highlights the Commission’s continuing resolve to uphold the rights of Filipino workers, particularly OFWs—who face labor disputes and injuries in the course of employment abroad. It also reaffirms the NLRC’s role in ensuring that labor laws and rulings translate into real, tangible justice for workers across the country.
NLRC RAB XII remains steadfast in its mission to protect and serve the labor sector, emphasizing accountability and compliance with labor standards, whether on local shores or in the global maritime industry.
