NLRC Participates in Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

Quezon City — In line with the government's continuing efforts to promote disaster preparedness and resilience, the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) actively participated in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) conducted on June 19, 2025. This activity is pursuant to Memorandum No. 27, s. 2025 issued by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

Officials and employees from the NLRC Central Office, including all Regional Arbitration Branches (RABs) across the country, took part in the drill, which aimed to assess institutional readiness and ensure public safety through organized evacuation and emergency response procedures.

As part of the protocol, employees were expected to follow the proper emergency procedures, including the Duck, Cover, and Hold technique, and to participate in the evacuation to designated safe zones. To reinforce the importance of safety compliance, personnel were instructed to wear their issued PPE safety helmets during the drill.

NLRC Chairperson Grace E. Maniquiz-Tan emphasized the importance of disaster preparedness, stating that participation in the nationwide drill reflects the shared responsibility of public officials and employees to safeguard not only themselves but also the clients and stakeholders they serve. She noted that disaster readiness is an essential component of a resilient and responsive public service.

The successful conduct of the earthquake drill reflects the Commission’s continuing support for national disaster risk reduction initiatives and its commitment to safeguarding the well-being of its personnel and the public it serves.

The NLRC remains steadfast in integrating safety measures into its day-to-day operations and encourages all employees to remain vigilant, informed, and proactive in the face of natural hazards.
