NLRC Conducts Gender Sensitivity and Mainstreaming Training Workshop

QUEZON CITY—On March 23, 2026, the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) capacitated its GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) with the necessary knowledge and skills on gender sensitivity, gender mainstreaming, and gender-responsive planning, strengthening their capacity to consistently integrate gender perspectives into the agency’s programs, projects, and services.

In her opening message, Director Elvira F. Cruz of the Management and Administrative Department encouraged participants to actively engage in the training, emphasizing its importance as foundational knowledge particularly as the NLRC prepares to craft its own GAD Agenda, which will guide its plans, budget, and program implementation.

Ms. Cecilia Iguiron Fantastico, Certified Member, Philippine Commission on Women GAD Resource Pool, presented a comprehensive discussion on the core principles of Gender and Development. She highlighted that the ultimate goal of GAD is to achieve gender equality and women’s empowerment. Beyond compliance, GAD seeks to foster a deeper understanding of its purpose to address and correct gender inequalities.

Through group activities, participants shared insights on concepts of development, sex and gender roles, and the gender inequalities experienced across various settings.

This training forms part of a series of GAD-related capacity-building initiatives of the Commission in line with the celebration of Women’s Month.
