NLRC-CAR Releases Over ₱790,000.00 in Awards, Benefits 10 Workers

Baguio City – The National Labor Relations Commission – Cordillera Administrative Region (NLRC-CAR) successfully facilitated the release of more than ₱790,000.00 in judgment awards and amicable settlements, benefiting a total of 10 workers from various sectors.

Among the beneficiaries were two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) employed as Jumbo Drill Operator and Underground Mining personnel, who received ₱296,205.08 from their employer. The monetary award covered reimbursement of unauthorized salary deductions and overtime pay, underscoring the protection afforded to Filipino workers engaged in specialized technical services abroad.

In another case, five workers serving as collectors reached an amicable settlement with a respondent electric cooperative, resulting in a total payout of ₱250,000.00. The outcome demonstrates the effectiveness of negotiated dispute resolution in providing prompt relief to aggrieved workers.

Meanwhile, three employees working as receptionist and all-around staff obtained ₱246,650.00 in monetary awards from a hotel and restaurant establishment. The claims involved separation pay and full backwages, reflecting the enforcement of labor standards within the hospitality industry.

The released of the awards were facilitated by Ms. Geralyn M. Sison and Ms. Mary Liezl D. Sangway.

These developments highlight NLRC-CAR’s continuing commitment to the timely enforcement of labor decisions and the promotion of fair and efficient dispute resolution mechanisms.

By facilitating both adjudicated awards and amicable settlements, the Commission strengthens access to justice for workers while encouraging compliance among employers.
