NLRC Facilitates Settlement for Workers Against Negros Oriental Beach Resort
Dumaguete City. – The National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) Sub-Regional Arbitration Branch No. VII in Dumaguete City successfully facilitated the settlement of labor claims for 24 workers against a beach resort located in Siaton, Negros Oriental. Workers comprising drivers, waiters, cooks, househelpers, receptionists, utility workers, maintenance staff, and office clerks collectively received a total of P903,508.80. Their claims covered unpaid overtime pay, 13th month pay, service incentive leave (SIL), holiday pay, and separation pay.
Overseen by Labor Arbiter Jason M. Bandal, the settlement brings closure to a dispute that highlighted significant issues of labor rights and fair compensation within the hospitality industry. The workers had lodged their complaints seeking due compensation for services rendered, which the resort initially failed to address.
