NLRC Bacolod City Facilitates Settlement of OFW Bosun's Claim

Bacolod City. – The NLRC Regional Arbitration Branch No. VI in Bacolod City successfully facilitated the settlement of a significant claim involving an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW). A settlement amounting to P745,940.00, representing medical insurance claims, was received by the complainant, a Bosun employed by a Shipping/Manning Company.

Overseen by Labor Arbiter Christine V. Bulanon-Gubalane, whose diligent efforts ensured a fair and timely resolution to the dispute, this case underscores the crucial role of the NLRC in upholding the rights of Filipino workers, both locally and abroad, and ensuring they receive the benefits and compensation they are entitled to under the law.

The successful facilitation of this settlement not only brings relief and justice to the OFW but also serves as a reminder to all employers in the maritime industry of the importance of adhering to labor regulations and honoring their contractual obligations to their employees.

With labor issues continuing to surface, the NLRC's effective handling of this case sets a positive precedent for future disputes, reinforcing the principle that workers' rights must be respected and upheld for all types of workers, both local and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
