NLRC CAR Branch Conducts Successful Auction Sale to Satisfy Judgment Award for Distressed Taxi Drivers
Baguio City. – The National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) Branch recently conducted a successful auction sale of a motor vehicle with a franchise to satisfy the judgment award of two distressed taxi drivers.
The auction sale was facilitated by Sheriff Marcial Aning under the supervision of Labor Arbiter Malcolm P. Bacuso. A motor vehicle, along with its operating franchise, was auctioned to the highest bidder for P1,200,000.00. This amount was sufficient to cover the full judgment award, which included backwages and a cash bond for the two taxi drivers.
Under the NLRC Rules of Procedure, the sheriff may execute the monetary judgment by levying on personal property, such as a motor vehicle, sufficient to cover the judgment award. This property may then be disposed of for value at a public auction to the highest bidder.
The judgment award stemmed from a case involving employment disputes where the taxi drivers sought rightful compensation for unpaid wages and other entitlements.
Labor Arbiter Malcolm P. Bacuso expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the auction, emphasizing the NLRC's dedication to ensuring that justice is served in labor disputes.
As the NLRC moves forward, it remains committed to fostering a fair and just labor environment, ensuring that all parties adhere to the principles of justice and equity in the workplace.
