NLRC Holds Seminar on Women's Health, Cervical and Breast Cancer, PCOS & Endometriosis Awareness
Quezon City – The National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC), in collaboration with De Los Santos Medical Center, successfully conducted a seminar titled "Beyond Awareness: Protecting Women’s Health from Cervical and Breast Cancer, PCOS & Endometriosis" on March 25, 2025. This event aimed to equip participants with vital knowledge on common health concerns affecting women.
In her opening message, Commissioner Mary Ann F. Plata-Daytia of the NLRC Fourth Division emphasized the significance of the seminar, stating that its goal was “to go beyond mere awareness and take concrete steps towards protecting women's health.” She underscored the importance of education, early detection, and proactive healthcare measures in addressing women's health issues.
Leading the discussion was Dr. Maria Lourdes B. Escobar, Head of the Women’s Center at De Los Santos Medical Center. She provided an in-depth lecture on Abnormal Uterine Bleeding (AUB), Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), Endometriosis, Breast Cancer, and Cervical Cancer. Dr. Escobar detailed the causes, symptoms, diagnostic methods, management strategies, and risk factors associated with these conditions. She stressed that early detection is crucial in increasing the chances of successful treatment, stating, “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.”
The seminar concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where participants actively engaged with Dr. Escobar, seeking further insights and clarifications on women's health concerns.
This initiative aligns with the NLRC’s commitment to promoting the well-being of its employees and stakeholders. Through activities like this, the Commission continues to advocate for informed and empowered women in the workforce and beyond.
