NLRC RAB II Facilitates P2.2 Million Settlement for Small Town Lottery Workers in Cagayan

Tuguegarao City – Demonstrating its commitment to the fair and efficient resolution of labor disputes, the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) Regional Arbitration Branch II successfully facilitated a settlement amounting to ?2,230,865.80 in total monetary awards for 11 workers of a small town lottery (STL) operator in Cagayan Province.

The complainant-workers, composed of a table manager and several STL staff, filed claims for separation pay, unpaid salaries, and other monetary benefits due to them following the termination of their services. After a series of conciliation-mediation conferences, the parties reached a full settlement, providing financial relief to the affected workers and avoiding further litigation.

Labor Arbiter Melanie F. Aleson-Laranio played a key role in facilitating the amicable settlement, guiding both parties through the NLRC’s dispute resolution process woth fairness and efficiency.

The settlement also highlights the effectiveness of the NLRC’s conciliation-mediation mechanisms, particularly in cases involving workers in vulnerable or less formal sectors, such as those employed under STL operations.
