NLRC takes part in 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill
QUEZON CITY—Officials and personnel of the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) joined other government employees and citizens in the 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on March 12, 2026 at 3:30PM.
The activity is a cornerstone of the government’s disaster risk reduction and management strategy, spearheaded by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).
At the sound of the alarm, NLRC officials and staff performed the standard safety protocol of “duck, cover, and hold”. Designated safety officers led the evacuation in an orderly manner, emphasizing the importance of staying calm and avoiding elevators during an earthquake.
Overall, the activity assessed the preparedness and efficiency of the agency’s emergency response team and other critical areas of disaster readiness such as communication flow, resource readiness, and personnel accountability.
The NLRC reaffirms that disaster resilience is a shared responsibility, ensuring a safe environment not only for its workforce but also its clients and stakeholders. The drill served as a vital reminder to maintain disaster awareness and preparedness, especially given the threat of "The Big One".
