NLRC Conducts Day 2 of Gender Sensitivity and Mainstreaming Training Workshop

QUEZON CITY - On March 30, 2026, members of the NLRC Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System (GFPS) participated in Day 2 of the Gender Sensitivity and Mainstreaming Training.

The session began with participants sharing their insights and key takeaways from the Day 1 of the training held on March 23, 2026. Ms. Catherine Melody Medina, Administrative Officer V of NCRAB shared that “Gender awareness is not just about knowing the differences, but changing our behavior, language, and actions to be more inclusive.”

Ms. Cecilia Iguiron-Fantastico, Certified Member of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) GAD Resource Pool led the discussion on the Manifestations of Gender Bias (MGBs) and provided a deeper understanding of gender mainstreaming as a strategy for institutional change. She highlighted that gender mainstreaming seeks to transform how the agency plans, implements, and evaluates its programs by addressing both Practical Gender Needs (PGNs) and Strategic Gender Interests (SGIs) within and through its regular functions.

Participants engaged in group work exercises, where they analyzed various manifestations of gender bias reinforced by socialization institutions and identified which activities are considered as PGNs and SGIs.

The session concluded with participants sharing their personal commitments by identifying concrete actions they will undertake to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment within the Commission.

The activity is in line with the NLRC’s commitment to building the capacity of its personnel and ensuring that gender perspectives are consistently integrated into the Commission’s programs, projects, and services.
