NLRC Conducts Orientation Seminar on IT Equipment and Cybersecurity for Sheriffs
The National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) recently held an orientation seminar for its sheriffs on proper IT equipment handling and cybersecurity hygiene. Held on June 21, 2024, at the NLRC BenLor Bldg., Quezon Avenue, Quezon City, the seminar focused on the use of newly-distributed laptop computers for reporting the execution of judgments.
Chairperson Grace E. Maniquiz-Tan highlighted that the seminar is part of the NLRC's broader strategy to modernize its operations and improve service delivery. She remarked that the goal is to leverage technology to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the execution of judgments. By investing in both the tools and training for personnel, the NLRC is taking a significant step towards achieving this goal.
The orientation covered various aspects of IT equipment handling, including best practices for using, maintaining, and securing the new laptops. Experts in cybersecurity provided detailed sessions on recognizing and mitigating cyber threats, ensuring safe internet practices, and emphasizing the importance of regular software updates and strong password management.
The seminar also included interactive workshops where sheriffs could practice their new skills and ask questions about specific challenges they might face in the field. Aimed at building confidence and competence, the hands-on training focused on effectively using the technology.
The NLRC’s ongoing commitment to professional development and technological advancement will continue to ensure that all personnel are equipped with the necessary skills to handle IT equipment and maintain cybersecurity standards.
