NLRC RAB V Facilitates Over P3.7 Million Settlement for Two OFW Seafarers

Legazpi City – In a continuing effort to deliver swift and equitable labor justice, the National Labor Relations Commission, Regional Arbitration Branch V (NLRC RAB V), successfully facilitated walk-in settlements for two overseas Filipino worker (OFW) seafarers who filed claims for disability benefits against their respective manning agencies.

The proceedings, mediated by Labor Arbiter Gener T. Caño, led to a combined settlement amounting to ?3,788,705.41.

One of the complainants, a seafarer fitter, received ?2,129,405.41 in full settlement of his disability benefit claim. The second complainant, a first assistant engineer, was granted ?1,659,300.00, also as compensation for disability.

These settlements were made possible through NLRC RAB V’s walk-in settlement mechanism, which offers an expedited and voluntary avenue for resolving labor disputes. This process proves especially helpful for OFWs who seek timely relief without the burdens of extended litigation.

The Commission commended the cooperation of all parties involved and reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rights and welfare of Filipino workers both locally and abroad.
